On the other hand, the writing is good, the action is fast and fun, the graphics are in many places utterly gorgeous, and party/inventory management is practically nil part of the reason it feels short is that you're not spending ten hours in a damn menu. It felt like they missed a lot of opportunities to tell a really different kind of story, and the American vernacular most characters speak in is really disconcerting. My main problem with the game was that (especially in the sidequests) it felt sometimes like a generic fantasy-medieval quest rather than quasi-Chinese. ![]() I think it got sort of unfairly shafted by people who were expecting it to be Street Fighter 2 with moral choices on the one hand, and RPGers who didn't like having to mash buttons at all on the other.Īside from the combat (which, for the record, I totally enjoyed) the other complaints were about the length of the game, which are valid - it's shorter than the KOTORs and ME. ![]() If it is, should I play the original XBox version on my 360, or pick up the new PC special edition? My general impression is that it is the least well received Bioware game. However, I didn't own an original XBox, and never got to play Jade Empire. I've played most of Bioware's releases, including my current run through Mass Effect right now. ![]()
